Once upon a sunny afternoon, Albert Einstein decided to take a much-needed break from the complexities of theoretical physics. With a gleam in his eye and a spring in his step, he set out to cook a simple meal of spaghetti. Unfortunately, cooking was not one of his many talents.

With a wave of his hands, Einstein dramatically flipped a handful of spaghetti into boiling water—but instead of precision, chaos ensued. The pot tipped precariously, and with one flailing arm, he sent the wooden spoon sailing across the room. It ricocheted off the wall and landed squarely in the dog’s water bowl, splashing droplets all over as the dog leaped back in confusion.

“Oh no!” Einstein shouted, hair standing even more on end than usual as he sprinted across the kitchen, narrowly avoiding the stray cat that had picked the worst possible moment to stretch, sending a nearby stack of books tumbling. The cat retaliated by darting underfoot, its tail like a mischievous flag waving in retreat.

In his frenzied panic, he reached for the pepper shaker, which he mistook for a scientific instrument. “AHA! A revolution in flavor!” he proclaimed. He grabbed it and, with theatrical flair, he twisted the lid right off, pepper exploding into the air like a confetti storm.

As he sneezed explosively, watching the cloud swirl about him, he didn’t notice how the spaghetti had turned into a sticky, gooey mess, clinging to every surface like an overenthusiastic companion. Just as he lifted the bowl to serve himself a victory meal, his foot tangled in the noodle that had slipped off the counter.

With one wild flail, the bowl launched into the air!

In that instant, Einstein caught a glimpse of his dog, wide-eyed and ready, standing underneath.

“Dinner’s ready!” he declared, only for the bowl to crash down directly into the dog’s mouth. The pup’s surprise was only matched by Einstein’s who stood, mouth agape, courageously witnessing the transformation of his meal into a dog’s new best friend.

And that, as he later recounted to his amused friends, was how he unwittingly invented “Pasta à la Pup.”
